On September 14th 2016, after the official visit to Beijing, the Vietnam Prime Minister, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, together with the Business Delegation led by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) paid an official visit to Hong Kong and attended the Hong Kong – Vietnam Business & Investment Forum, which was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) and VCCI, supported by HKVCC and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

More than 300 people including government officials and business leaders from both Hong Kong and Vietnam attended this Forum.

When giving the welcome remarks, Dr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of CGCC and HKVCC, commended the efforts, measures and determination of the Vietnamese Government in enhancing economic growth over the recent years. He said that the Vietnamese Government is pursuing a number of ambitious market reform programs and suitable policies to attract more foreign investment.

Dr. Choi also expressed his hope that Hong Kong and Vietnamese businesses will support each other to make the best use of opportunities under the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and the “Two Corridors, One Economic Belt” framework.

The Vietnam Prime Minister introduced the nation’s socio-economic development performances, especially the business and investment environment, potentials and advantages. He added that Vietnam is committed to facilitating Hong Kong's investment in such areas as banking, finance, insurance, maritime transport, infrastructure, electronics, auxiliary industry and agricultural products.

Mr. Rimsky Yuen, Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, asked Vietnamese businesses to strengthen cooperation with their partners in Hong Kong, hoping the Vietnamese Government to create more favorable conditions for Hong Kong’s enterprises to invest in Vietnam in all fields. Hong Kong would continue expanding investment in Vietnam and supporting Vietnamese businesses to penetrate in Hong Kong and China, he said.
