An Giang Delegation and Investment Talk

HKVCC organized a meeting for HKVCC members with 15 delegates from An Giang Province, headed by Deputy Governor of the Province, Mr. Huynh The Nang, as well as a Talk on Investment in Vietnam for HKVCC members by Lorenz & Partners on 21 March 2012.

Deputy Governor Mr Huynh talked about the latest developments of An Giang Province as well as the cooperation opportunities between the Province and Hong Kong. He said, “An Giang is located in the Southwest of Vietnam, belonging to the Mekong Delta. Its surface area is 3537 sq. km accommodating 2.2 million people. The past years have seen its stable economic development with GDP growth of over 10%. Its strengths are rice and aquatic production, trading and tourism. In terms of tourism, the nature blesses it with a variety of beautiful sights, cultural historical vestiges. It is situated on the international tourist route from Ho chi Minh City – An Giang – Phnom Penh – Siem Riep (the Kingdom of Cambodia) – convenient for both inland and water transportation.”

He added, “Beside natural sights, An Giang is also widely known for various cultural activities engraved by ancient and simple oriental characteristics of ethnic groups of the Vietnamese, Chinese, Khmer and Cham. The tourist sector of An Giang has done its best to make available tours, routes of ecological, religious, cultural tourism to original human historical vestiges. The total number of visitors to tourist spots in An Giang reached 5.2 million in 2011, of which the number of international ones counted 50 thousand.”

In the coming years, An Giang will continue to take advantages of its strengths, expand tours to ethnic cultural sites, restore vestiges and expand tourist spots and areas to make them more attractive. Mr Huynh also believed in developing relationship between An Giang Province in particular, Vietnam in general and Hong Kong business communities.

The presentation is followed by a Talk on Investment in Vietnam: Key Issues to Consider by Ms. Helen Morris, Senior Associate of Lorenz & Partners, one of the HKVCC members. The Talk was highly appreciated by the Delegation as well as HKVCC members as it provided information regarding law system, tax system and other business topics on Vietnam.
